Municipal Solid Waste Management Software Development
GIZ is an international cooperation enterprise for sustainable development. This EU co-financed GIZ project supports selected Kosovo municipalities in modernizing public waste management services to enhance efficiency and establish a sustainable waste management model.
The existing billing and revenue collection software used in four Kosovo municipalities lacked real-time communication, used outdated technology, had no citizen profiles for payment tracking or integrated banking options, and raised security concerns due to external cloud hosting.
In collaboration with the Ministry, municipalities, and AIS (as host), a new billing and revenue collection software was developed for municipal solid waste management. The project also included a legal framework assessment, a detailed waste fee collection guideline, and training for ministry and municipal officials.
